Small cars don’t have to be short on style. The Aveo RS is a fun and functional 5-door hatchback with styling cues from motorcycles, cutting a striking figure both inside and out. Add to that turbocharged, 138-horsepower performance and its no wonder the Aveo RS turned heads on its European debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
Longer, wider and even more spacious than the current production model, the Aveo RS flaunts exposed headlamps, a round, analog tachometer set within an asymmetrical LCD readout that echo the motorcycles that inspired it. Five-spoke 19-inch wheels reveal the body-coloured brake calipers, while inside the integrated centre console houses the gearstick, ventilation system controls and sound system.
Small and strong, functional and funky, the Aveo RS is the latest addition to Chevrolet’s striking range of compact and mini segment cars, such as the Cruze and the new Spark. “We want customers to have an emotional reaction to it”, says Michael Simcoe, Executive Director of Chevrolet Design. The new Aveo RS is set to win both the hearts and minds.
