When our designers took on the challenge of creating a next generation family car, they set themselves a big goal. How do you evolve beyond the MPV to create a car that offers the same space, flexibility and modern looks, but in a more agile and fuel-efficient design?
Their exploration resulted in a concept for an entire new type of family vehicle. The 5-door, 7-seat Chevrolet Orlando.
The key to the Orlando concept car is its design efficiency. A concave shoulder line, flared fenders and “wheels out/body in” stance create an SUV feel without added weight, height or excessive wheel clearances.
Inside, designers maximised occupant space via three rows of tiered theatre-style seats, topped by a full-length glass
roof to add more light to the cabin.
The interior design even includes the ability to convert to a 900 litre flat-bed
cargo area in seconds.
Together with a striking dual cockpit, use of high quality materials and full infotainment package, the Chevrolet Orlando is a concept that can change the future of family transportation.
Premiered at the Paris Motor Show, the Chevrolet Orlando thrilled the crowds by challenging the perception of what a family car can deliver.
“We focused on giving the Orlando a strong, robust appearance,” said designer Seungwoo Kim. “It draws on Chevrolet’s tradition for honest, simple design, while extending our new design language into the compact van segment.”
