Environment – how Chevrolet is using technology like Diesel and Electric cars

We invest heavily in developing new technologies that will allow our cars to run on cleaner and cheaper fuels. That’s why our models are amongst the market-leaders in fuel economy and low emissions.

Environment

Our cars are fun – but they’re also sensitive to environmental issues. That’s because our designers work night and day on technologies like these:

  • Petrol (fuel efficiency & low emissions)
  • Diesel
  • Electric

Our cars are amongst the most fuel-efficient on the road. They use less petrol than most other cars – making them great value to own and also helping the environment.

The Aveo, for example, was recently judged the most fuel and CO2 efficient car in its segment*:

Diesel

Diesel-powered cars account for about 50% of sales in Europe and offer several advantages over petrol-powered cars:

  • Lower emissions
  • Fuel efficiency
  • Environment-friendly (emit less CO2)
  • Resale value (retain their value better)

Chevrolet is proud to offers several high-quality diesel models:

Captiva diesel
Cruze diesel

Electric

In the future we’ll be launching the Chevrolet Volt – a car that will change the world.

The Volt represents a breakthrough in fuel technology. Unlike hybrid electric/petrol-powered cars, the Volt's back-up petrol engine does not drive the wheels. It re-charges the battery if needed. This is a frictionless process which makes it ultra-efficient. You’ll be able to plug it into a standard 230v outlet and get a total charge in less than 3 hours, for an estimated £1 (if you charge it overnight).

The benefits to the environment – and you – will be immense.
