The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to exchange either their Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance or their War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement to obtain a new car, by simply turning part – or all – of that allowance into the car of their choice, either through a Contract Hire agreement (by far the most popular choice), or a Hire Purchase agreement.
Motability Contract Hire
With this scheme, there is a three year/60,000 mile agreement, giving you:
• Comprehensive insurance cover, servicing and maintenance
• Full RAC breakdown assistance
• Annual tax disc (VED)
• Tyre and windscreen replacement
• Many adaptations at no extra cost
At the end of this three-year, worry-free period, the car is returned to Motability – and you can seamlessly transfer to a new agreement, for another brand new car!
The Contract Hire scheme is not restricted to drivers: you can nominate up to two drivers who can be friends or relatives. Parents or carers can apply on behalf of a child aged three or more.
Note: with a Motability Contract Hire agreement there are:
- NO credit checks
- NO waiting lists
- NO assessment
However, you must have at least 12 months’ award length remaining.
